Safe Sanctuaries
Prepared by the Wisconsin Conference United Church of Christ to encourage and resource churches to create a safe environment for our children and youth. Every congregation is urged to plan and adopt Safe Sanctuary policies, training programs, procedures, a response plan and congregational education. The Safe Sanctuaries resources can be downloaded in MS Word or PDF file format.
Information about Creating a Website for Your Church
1. Check out the link on the national UCC website, http://www.ucc.org/god-is-still-speaking/church-resources/ to learn about the free web page option offered to churches that opt in to the God Is Still Speaking program.
3. Put together a committee of 5-6 individuals who have a good understanding of your church’s ministries and programs and ask them to write the initial content for your web page. They will need to decide what information about your church might be most important to someone looking for a church. Check out the web pages of other churches to get ideas. There are links to all the Association churches that have websites on the Churches page.
4. Identify one individual member who has some technical expertise to put together your initial web site (a high school or technical college student) or look for a company who might be willing to develop your site as a way of advertising their skills or use the services provided by Webmedley.
5. Having a web presence where a potential member can find basic information about location, worship time, phone number and pastor’s name is just as valuable as having a fancy site. Make a plan and develop your new web site over a period of time. Have fun, learn something new and know that this is yet another way that “God is Still Speaking,”
